Meet The Farmer

Hi there!  I’m Andrea, the big idea girl behind this beautiful space. I’m wife of 23 years to my high school sweetheart Ryan, proud mom to four beautiful humans, and a Sarasota local for over 20 years.

I’ve dreamed of being a flower farming florist for many years. Over the last year God opened the door for that opportunity to materialize. In addition to working on the farm I enjoy watching football with my family, reading great books, and a good cup of coffee.

My family and I live on 5 acres in Sarasota and I believe this is the perfect space to cultivate beautiful blooms to share with my community.  I’m passionate about supporting my local community and excited to offer an option for local blooms. In addition to my love of watching flowers grow and bloom, arranging bouquets is something I’ve adored since working for a florist while attending college.

Spending time in the garden on research and development is among my favorite ways to relax. I can’t think of a better way to spend a day than in the garden picking blooms to share with friends and family.

Here on the farm I am growing a variety of flowers, foliage, and herbs. I hand harvest my flowers at their peak in order to create signature bouquets with long lasting vase life.

My goal with Fleurish is to share the beauty and joy of flowers with my friends, family, and local community.

FAQ's

How long can I expect my flowers to last?

Our bouquets have an average vase life of 5-7 days.  This length will depend on the type of flowers in the bouquet as well as flower care.

How do I care for my farm fresh florals for maximum vase life?

We use the freshest flowers in our bouquets and they drink a LOT of water.  After you receive your flowers you should change the water every 2 - 3 days to give them the hydration they need to stay beautiful.  Adding a drop of bleach or a crushed aspirin is also helpful to combat bacterial growth from flowers that are notorious for making vase water dirty like zinnias.

In addition, keeping your bouquet away from ripening fruit will help extend vase life.  The ethylene gas can cause the flowers to expire more quickly.  It is also best to keep they away from direct sunlight, such as a windowsill.

What makes your flowers special?

Our local blooms are special!  I even consider them food for the soul.  These blooms include heirloom varieties with unique colors, forms, and varieties specific to our region.  Often the colors of the blooms are produced by our local unique weather patterns and therefore are one-of-a-kind.  Our blooms produce a certain magical beauty that only local flowers can provide.

-Our blooms are hand picked from the garden with 24-36 hours of landing on your table, and are handled with love and care by us.  Their imported countertparts, however, are shipped dehydrated and come to you at the tail end of their bloom life.

Can I come visit the farm?
